Where The Action Is...

John Wesley, an Anglican cleric and Christian theologian during the 18th century, once said, "prayer is where the action is!"   There is definitely a lot of "action" going on right now as we finish our final preparations, packing and everything else, before moving in 5 days.  What a wonderful quote to come across...reminding me about the imminent importance of prayer.  We would love to physically take all of you on this journey with us down to Mexico.  However, we know that's not possible...BUT...each of you can still be "...where the action is."  And as John Wesley, so wonderfully put it, that action comes as a result of prayer.

Friends and family, we could use your prayers more then ever before, especially in these final days.  I'm reminded of Paul's letter to the church in Philippi...in which he speaks of one of my favorite verses about prayer...

"Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your REQUESTS be made known to God" (Philippians 4:6).

We'd like to share some specific prayer requests that we would love for you to join us as we pray and seek the Lord regarding them.  We know He loves listening to our prayers as well as responding to them!

  • HEALTH...Jackie and Ayantu have been sick now for a few weeks.  Its that cold/cough thing that is going around and we are praying they'll be healed up before flying out next Thursday.
  • PACKING...We are frantically trying to get everything packed and ready to be loading into the moving truck on Saturday!
  • STRESS...Things have been a little stressful in the Sanchez home and we desperately want the "peace of God" which surpasses all understanding to guard our hearts and minds.
  • SAYING GOODBYES...We know that we will see you all again, but its still difficult saying final goodbyes to friends and especially family!
  • SAFE TRAVELS...My dad and I will leaving early Monday morning to begin the uhaul drive.  We will drive to Redding, CA on Monday, Ontario, CA on Tuesday, Phoenix AZ on Wednesday and then arrive in El Paso on Thursday.  Jackie and Ayantu will fly out Thursday to meet us in El Paso.
  • BORDER CROSSING...We will be using two trucks and a 15 passenger van, next Saturday, to take the first load of our stuff into Mexico.  We are praying we find favor at the border and checkpoints and everything gets through.
  • MISSIONS TEAM...Next Saturday we will also be bringing down a missions team from Calvary Mt View, in Utah.  3 brothers will be joining us and finishing the septic system and water hookup.  They will be with us for a week.

Thank you so much...Jason, Jackie and Ayantu!

God always listens...

"I love the Lord, because He has heard my voice and my supplications.  Because He has inclined His ear to me, therefore I will call upon Him as long as I live" (Psalm 116:1-2) Thank you for all your prayers.  How wonderful to know the Lord has heard them and has answered them.  Many of you have been praying for our workers, and we are rejoicing that  our brother Eloy surrendered his life to Jesus on Sunday.  He continues to grow and love his new relationship with Jesus.  Some of his friends wanted him to go out drinking but Eloy said no.  He expressed to Pastor Luis that he badly wants to change his ways and Luis has begun to disciple him.  There is a different countenance on his face and we are praying that his co-workers will see that...and desire a relationship with Jesus as well!

Here are some specific prayer requests...

  • We are in need of getting electricity to the property.  We basically have 3 options.  Option 1 is from the main road, which is over 1 kilometer away.  This would be the most expensive.  Option 2 is running lines underground from where the well is.  This would save a little money but be a ton of work.  Option 3 is the easiest, cheapest and closest, however, causing the most resistance.  To the right of the property, their is power about 450 yards away.  We asked the gentleman who lives next door if we could run 2 poles to get power.  He adamantly said no.  He gave a bunch of reasons that made no sense, other then he just doesn't want us too.  We are praying that the Lord will open a door and for a change of heart for this gentleman.  If not, we know God will provide other means for one of the other options.
  • Word has gotten out to other local churches and the Mennonite communities, regarding the orphanage.  They don't understand why we are doing what we are doing. They are asking a lot of questions as to why we would move orphans to Bachiniva.  Please pray for wisdom for Ray, Luis and I as we share the vision, desire, and most importantly, God's heart in this!
  • We have scheduled our 2nd trip to Creel...for September 16th-18th.  This will be a time for Jackie, Ayantu and I to continue getting to know the children, as well as Pastor Luis and I continuing conversations with Lino and Lupe about the change.  Even though we are 11 days out...we are praying very hard for a productive, blessed  and Jesus centered trip!

Thanking God for...

  • hearing the cries of our hearts
  • lessons learned about humility
  • conversations that can take place even with a language barrier
  • Eloy, Alejo, Florentino, Lico, Chayo, Jorge, Carlos and Nieves, who work so hard, so fast and never complain.
  • the building project which is going faster then anticipated
  • AT&T, which allows us to keep in touch with the states
  • internet, facebook, blogs and websites that can capture ALL that God is doing through words, posts, pictures and videos
  • His amazing grace...though we once were lost, we've been found...though we once were blind, now we see!

The Lord Fulfills Your Petitions...

As I was reading and meditating on Psalm 20 this morning, this verse stood out to me... "...may the Lord fulfill ALL your petitions" (Psalm 20:5)

We serve a God who not only HEARS our prayers...RECEIVES our prayers, but also ANSWERS our prayers.  Knowing that so many of you are praying daily for us, Casa de Bendicion and the ministry down here...blesses our hearts dearly.

Here are some things going on this week that we would love your specific prayers...

  • That the rest of the land paperwork and processing will go smoothly and fast
  • Now that the land is ours, we have begun talking to men that we can hire for the building project.  Our desire is to support locals from Bachiniva who are out of work and in need.  Some of them are not believers, and yet, each morning before we start working, we will have a time of prayer and little bible study...pray the Lord leads us to the right men to hire and that above and beyond working and making money...that their hearts and lives will be changed
  • There are a number of people back home in the states who are praying about coming down in October on the construction team.  Their desire is to come, but they want to know the Lords desire.  Let’s pray that He will reveal that to them
  • Please pray for the safety of all the families here in Bachiniva.  The drug cartel continues to run things and a lot of people are scared.  However, we know that God is greater and bigger and pray that those who live here will walk in that same truth.
  • Our trip to Creel is coming up next week...where we will be going to share news and meet the orphans.  Please pray that the children and current workers will receive that which God is doing, with open hearts.  We have been praying that the Lord will prepare the hearts of the children for a smooth and blessed transition.  Please pray for Ray Wilson (director of Black Buffalo Global Ministries) and the current orphanage...that he will have the wisdom and discernment in sharing the change with the children.
  • Jackie, Ayantu and I are adjusting well down here, however with the language barrier and a whole different lifestyle, we miss our church and fellowship with brothers and sisters.  Please pray that the Lord will bring some brothers and sisters (other than the Vargas family) that we can have fellowship with!

 Praising God for....

  • electricity...hot showers...a washing machine...purified water...brooms and mops (Jackie)...that Ayantu is laughing, eating and playing more than ever before...His mercies that are new every morning...family and friends who support us...God’s faithful protection and watching over us...His Word, which greatly encourages our heart everyday!
