Countdown to The 2019 House Of Blessing Golf Tournament
About The Golf Tournament h1>
The House of Blessing (Casa de Bendicion) orphanage, in partnership with the Chapel Church in Puyallup WA, hosts an annual Golf Tournament. In addition to a great day of golf, the primary focus and goal is to raise funds and awareness for this charitable organization.
In 2012, Jason Sanchez and his family moved to Bachiniva, Chihuahua, Mexico with a desire to start an orphanage. Bachiniva is a town of roughly 2500 people just five hours south of El Paso, Texas, located in cartel-controlled territory in the Sierra Madres Mountains.
In Mexico there are officially 1.8 million orphaned children, without counting non-orphaned children who have been neglected or deprived of family, who also are in need of care. There are an estimated 703 publicly and privately run institutions that house approximately 657,000 children. Mexico’s government invests less than 2% of its budget toward protection of children.
It is because of these staggering statistics, that we have an event like this. Your participation in this year’s Golf Tournament will enable the House of Blessing to continue their mission of sheltering, feeding, clothing, loving, teaching and training children. This orphanage meets a critical need in this poverty-stricken community and the surrounding areas.
Since 2014, more than fifty children have been cared for at the House of Blessing. The dedicated staff and volunteers currently care for fourteen children full-time: nine girls and five boys (ages five to sixteen).
